I've got a kitchen back- sort of!
Okay- we’re still using extension cords and only have one counter next to the sink that is temorarily kept in place with the dishwasher. But I can now cook again in our kitchen! Can you tell I’m pretty excited? In case you don’t follow our blog, here’s a quick recap: Sometime in late May we disconnected the stove. We’ve been using a combination of microwave, toaster oven and gas barbecue since. (And more eating out than usual.) About a week ago we ran the gas pipe for the stove and then connected the stove in its new spot in the kitchen. If you follow our blog then you already know that the oven part did not work. I was beginning to be just a bit nervous since we had gotten the stove at a salvage yard & was hoping that nothing major was wrong with it because we really can’t afford to replace it right now.
Today: Well the repair man arrived at noon and fixed the oven. Turned out that the igniters needed to be replaced. I guess they are kind of like light bulbs and you need to put new ones in every once in awhile. If we had known that, we would have done it ourselves. But seeing as it’s not wise to mess around with gas appliances if you don’t know what you’re doing, we decided to call the repairman. It took him less than 15 minutes and the oven was working great. So, now I can start cooking again. I’m thinking homemade pizza tonight. And I can take the crust out of the freezer and make that quiche I had planned on a week ago.

Cooking in a kitchen. I’m so close I can taste it. I still need to get the sink and SW hooked up. :-(
