If we didn't have to work, the house would look great!

Work seems to be taking too much time lately & I’m feeling like we’re not accomplishing much on the home renovation projects. But then again, if we didn’t work we wouldn’t have any money to finish all the projects that we’ve started, or be able to remodel the kitchen. So tonight I thought I would think back about all that we’ve accomplished in the last year or so…

  • The staircase (96% complete along with repairing and painting the stairwell wall)
  • Gas fireplace installed and working and the mantel 87% complete. (Thanks for your help, Phil!)
  • Getting the main electrical ready to switch over
  • We upgraded our washer and dryer (not much work for us, but I still call it home improvement)
  • My brother and nephew carpeted the underside of the stairs leading to the basement. (Practical joke- but it doesn’t look bad!
  • We made the concrete countertops for the wine cellar
  • Nick replaced the sump pump in the laundry room
  • We took the shower doors off the tub/shower and installed a curved shower curtain rod.
  • We’ve decided on a plan for the kitchen remodel and Nick built a cool model out of foam board:

  • We refinished and installed the doors that go to the media room.

Okay- now I feel a bit better. These projects take time, but when I look back over a longer period, I can see the progress that we are making. I’m hoping that this blog and site become a record for us and can also help keep us inspired. No working on the house tonight. Instead, I’m off to go for a swim.

I know how you feel. Work feels like such a waste of valuable house-renovating time. But it’s either too little time and enough money or too little money and enough time. *sigh*

But it sounds like you guys have accomplished a lot! I love the miniature model of the kitchen!
