Jambliners, take 2.
I was a little mad at myself all weekend. On Friday I ordered a sample tilt-jambliner from Blaine Window & Hardware. (This is a pretty neat company, and friendly too!) My plan is to retrofit our existing cottage-style double hung windows with new jambliners. I ordered one set to make sure they would work.

The problem is that I discovered Friday evening that I had mis-measured the window and had ordered the wrong size jambliner. Oooooh so angry!
But I called Paula, the nice Blaine Window representative, back this morning and she changed my order for me. My hardware will be here in about 4 weeks and I can hardly wait!

You and your site are a godsend! My family and I have been looking for months for this system. And your link takes me right to the company page!! You have no idea how much you’ve helped me. Thank you for taking the time to maintain this site while working so hard on your home.

Can you provide an update on the success of your jambliner retrofit? How much vinyl is visible? Have you seen bi-glass retrofits for further ideas?

i did the same thing and ordered one set. it was a good thing because they would not work. The old metal liners were thin so i tried to cut down the sash width. The only way i can get them to work is to cut them so much that i would need to deepen the rabbit cut, this would also require cutting the metal interlock on the sash…more than i was bargaining for.
