Oven and Microwave Temporarily Installed!
Trissa got home in the late afternoon yesterday and was excited to hear about Atticus’s and my excursion to the appliance sale. I could tell she wanted her appliances installed sooner than later, so around 4pm I took the van back to the sale and picked them up. I carried the microwave up the 33 steps myself last night, but the 250lb oven would have to wait until today. We cooked ham in the microwave last night using the convection feature, and bacon this morning (wow, do we eat that much pork?). It seems to work fine, but I think I’ll probably stick to using the microwave-only feature.
Trissa’s brother Tomas came over today and the three of us carried the oven up the steps and into the kitchen. Wow was it heavy! I had the wiring all set to go so a couple wire-nuts later we slid it into place. The face frames for the cabinet aren’t done yet, so it will have to be slid out again in a few weeks for final installation.
At the moment we’re running the oven through a 1-hour break-in, which involves setting it at 500-degrees in “roast-convection” mode for one hour. Presumably this burns off any factory residue. The fan is a bit louder than I expected, but then again perhaps with the trim installed it will be a bit less; we’ll see.
Here’s the temporary installation. We still need to get the trim-kit for the microwave, which will make it match the oven.
