Progress!

Today I laminated a 5/8 (actually 19/32”, if you can believe that..) sheet of plywood to the underside of the mantel top. Next week, I’ll attach the trim, and we’ll be nearly ready for the finish. Rock on!!!

And, Trissa got me motivated to work on the staircase with her. After scraping the walls to remove the multitudes of paint blisters and high spots, we applied a coat of Glidden “Gripper”, which the guy at Home Deposit tells me will adhere to the topping compound I’m planning on using on the next layer. We’ll see, I have my doubts, but I’m hopeful…
