Quick update
It was a productive weekend. We raised the beam (Nick will post about this project soon)
and the gas pipe for the boiler has been re-routed and is ready to go. Our new doors arrive tomorrow so now it’s time to clean up the shop so I will have a space to refinish the doors. I’ve narrowed it down to using spar varnish or Sikkens Cetol products. I’m on my way to Woodcraft soon and then I’ll decide. That’s it for now!

The beam looks good! I’m thinking of using the Sikkens on our fence, I’ve heard it’s good stuff. I don’t know how it compares to spar varnish for doors though.

Thanks- it was great to get it up safely and in place. One step closer to framing! The only concern I have about the Sikkens is the possibility of it looking a little orange. I’ve heard great things about it. I’m going to talk to someone at a marine store and see what they say. It would be great for the fence.

Now that’s what I call a BEAM. I can’t imagine how you got it up there- helpers? 2 x 4’s? I have to know and will await Nick’s post on it.
very exciting about the new doors. We have pushed up our front door replacement higher on our list, but my darling and crazy woodworker boyfriend Steve will be making us a front door this winter.
