Ready and waiting

The drywall contractor came out last week and gave us a bid later the same day. He called Nick on Friday and said he could start on Monday if we would be ready. We are ready and waiting.

This weekend was filled with taking care of all the details:

  • double checking that all the screws were in
  • removing everything from the first floor (the couches and mantle are now in the shop, which required cleaning the shop up a bit)
  • cleaning the floors and then covering them with paper
  • putting cardboard or thin wood over the paper on the bamboo flooring to protect it
  • moving kitchen appliances and dishes downstairs
  • cleaning the front porch and moving stuff out there
  • putting plastic over the cabinets that still had stuff in them
  • moving the 400 lb. stove out from the wall and covering it
  • finishing the installation of a few last pieces of drywall
  • making a run to the dump
  • taking down light fixtures
  • removing all the face plates from outlets and switches

Now I’m just waiting for them to call and show up so I can see their amazing work. This contractor was recommended by an architect we know and he specializes in smooth wall finish. Hopefully it will all go smoothly and by next week we will be ready for paint. Our only experience using outside help was with the boiler for the radiant floor (Advanced Radiant Technology) and that was a great experience.

It’s been 14 months since we had walls, so we’re just a little excited. Soon I can post about paint choices!

I can’t wait to see the transformation. Nice to get that stage over with quickly.
