Taunton Press Forums

I’ve pretty much decided to use spar varnish for the exterior doors after the responses to my last blog. Before going out and spending money, I wanted to do a little more research. The book I have on finishing didn’t have a lot of information about spar varnish. I ordered more Taunton books and a video from the Seattle Public Library. Then I went to Taunton Press’ website to see if they had any more information about using spar varnish and came across their forums. I’ve been impressed with all their publications, and so far the forums look worthwhile as well. They have a specific forum for woodworking (Knots), home building (Break Time), home design (House Chat), the online tool guide (Tool Talk), and gardening (Over the Fence). There is also a forum for cooking and for sewing, but seeing as I don’t have a kitchen and I can’t really start a sewing project right now, I’m stopping there. I’ll save those for later this fall and winter. My day will pass by far too quickly if I check out all the forums, but that’s okay. Coffee and some good morning reading. Just in case any of you needed a break from working on the house or garden and wanted yet another great website to read!

Those forums are great, and people on there suggest other forums for more specific questions to do with tile, hvac etc. There is a lot of information to wade through over there.

LOVE the Breaktime forum. They are all great. If I ever run into trouble, that’s the first place I go running to.
