Tiny Texas Houses
There was a cool (short) article in the Real Estate section of this Sunday’s Seattle Times about a company called “Tiny Texas Houses”. They build small houses (think 10’x16”) out of reclaimed materials. You can buy one for $30K to $60K.

Trissa’s brother has property in Winthrop, WA, and has a “tiny house” on the property. It’s roughly 10’x12’ and has a kitchenette, a bath with shower, and a sleeping loft. We call it “The Love Shack”.
This would be my dream job, I think: to design and build tiny houses out of reclaimed lumber.

That’s about the size of our treehouse! Very cool, but 30-50K sounds a bit pricey…

This month’s This Old House Magazine had an article about these. They’re really cool and I have to admit to dreaming about someday opening a salvage warehouse and building these from some of the materials - so cool!

I read about these in The New York Times awhile back. People use them for “vacation” homes — like at a beach.

I saw that in the paper, and was pretty impressed, until I met a person who does something even better - turning old covered wagons into small residences or guest suites - and managing to do this in Seattle somehow -http://www.oldwesternwagons.com/sheepwagons.html
