Tubing complete +more
Two long days (12hrs yesterday!) later and we made some definitive progress over the weekend. The tubing for the radiant floor is now complete - we snapped the last loops into their tracks on Saturday and hooked all 6 loops to the manifold on Sunday morning. With that, we were free to begin framing, and we did!
In the last couple weeks we noticed that the bedroom floor had become mysteriously bouncy. My sneeking suspicion was a support we temporarily removed on the opposite side of the house, mainly because of the timing. Recollection was telling me that the bounce started about the time the support came down to make way for the Quick Track in the foyeur. Last week the bounce really started to irk me, so this weekend was time to fix it. Last night we installed a wall with a doubled 2x8 beam to carry load around the stairway (the culprit of the bounce…) and it seems to have cured the problem. Yeah! It’s pretty exciting too to have one of the first walls in place, actually defining the space that we’ve been visualizing in our heads and on paper for so long. I can’t wait to get a few more walls up next weekend!
Paul Pollets will be here in one week to do final hookup on the floor and to boot it up! I sure hope it runs perfectly the first try…
