Ding Dong

Luckily I’m not talking about anyone- I want a new doorbell. A few years ago a friend of mine bought an old home & I fell in love with the doorbell. It was an old Victorian twist doorbell and I had never seen one before. I asked if I could have it, but he still won’t give it to me! I’ve watched eBay, but haven’t found one that seems reasonable. A couple of Friday’s ago, I picked Nick up from work and we stopped by my new favorite store: Rejuve. It isn’t a huge store, but it has very nice replica hardware and we found the furniture we would like for the living room someday. Since we’re not ready for furniture, and it’s so expensive, I did find a doorbell. I would have bought it and brought it home that day, but Nick tends to be the voice of reason in our relationship. I think today is the day for a new doorbell. Who cares if we don’t have the front door that we eventually want? We can re-install the doorbell at that time!

I woke up early, but Nick was determined to sleep longer. As I read the paper with one of the cats on my lap I saw and sale advertised for Rejuve! Trying to be the nice wife, I kept reading the paper and then surfed some blogs. Then I looked up Rejuve’s website & was pretty impressed. You can even listen to the doorbells online! I can’t say I’m 100% in love with the sound, but I want a twist doorbell and I like the simplicity of it. I don’t care if I can’t hear it if I’m in the basement. They can knock on the basement door if they like. So, now I think it’s time to take a cup of coffee up to Nick and let him know that I have the morning planned and it doesn’t include any drywall work before noon! I’ll let you know if I come home with the doorbell!

    Trissa,

I want one of these doorbells too. We’ve got the guts of an old one stuck to the backside of our front door - with the proper key, it probably would work. But I haven’t found anything to fit it yet, so we’ll probably have to get a new one from Rejuvenation or someplace similar.

There’s something so charming about them!

Mindy- they do sell the two parts separately and it looks like a square hex part that twists the bell. If the bell works, you could just replace the knob. It would be worth a try & cost less! The cupola pictures on your site are great- I think you’re braver than I am!
