Doorbell or... loveseat!
So we went to Rejuve and they had quite a bit of stuff on sale. They even had the doorbell I liked on sale, but we decided we were going to look for one that has a different twist/knob mechanism.
Then we found the Sears, Roebuck Home Builder’s Catalog: 1910 Edition. It’s a lot of fun to browse through and see all the things that you could buy, including a complete house for $860.00 (No. 102)!
As we went to look at the rest of the sale, we both noticed the coach we found a month ago. After going back and forth whether or not it was really on sale, we decided to ask the store clerk. Yep, it was on sale: 25% off the already reduced 10% off price. We had asked last month if it would ever go on sale and they had said no. Turns out they were wrong and they sold the matching couch to another woman yesterday! (We would have loved the pair!) Supposedly the mill that made the sample swatches didn’t get enough customers to justify making enough of the fabric and they’ve had to switch fabrics. The style of couch will still be available, but they will have different fabrics.

This fabric looks like a tightly woven wool, but it’s actually synthetic. We like the sleek, yet classic design and the fact that it isn’t a huge, overstuffed sofa. There is a slight chance that the factory may still have some of the sample fabric left. If they do, then we’d be able to order a matching sofa, or second loveseat. The question was do we buy it if we can’t get the matching one, or do we just take our chances on what the new fabric would look like? We sat on the couch and comfortably thought it over. Then we bought it. It was almost heart breaking when we went to go pick it up to see the sofa sitting right next to it in their storage area. Would they have believed us if we said we had purchased both? I wanted to leave a note on the sofa telling the woman she could call us if it turned out she didn’t like it after all.
Needless to say, it doesn’t fit with the mismatched furniture that we have now, but we still love it and think it will be beautiful when we complete restoring the main floor. We’ll keep it in the living room for a couple of days. Then we’re going to put it in our bedroom until we finish the main floor. That way it will seem like a brand new love seat.

Here’s Nick sitting in it just after we brought it home today. So far the cats haven’t been on the couch yet. We locked them outside for awhile and now we have the spray bottle strategically placed in front of the couch. We’ll make the other couch more inviting for them with their favorite blanket and hopeful convince them that they don’t like the couch. I know if they think they’re not allowed on the couch, they will spend the entire day sleeping on it until we get home from work. Then they would have to be outdoor cats for sure!

Now, Trissa, we really need to do something about our floors. And that rug - it looks terrible with the loveseat…
