Getting Ready

This is the 2nd day this week I’ve stayed home from work in the morning to deal with house-related tasks. Yesterday I met with Paul Pollets from Advanced Radiant Technology about our planned system. He came over to see the project and answer some questions I had. To get started, he took my measured drawings and information about the space (ceiling height, insulation, window sizes, etc.), and will be performing a heat-loss calculation. This will enable him to correctly determine what size boiler we need, and to design the boiler room. We’ll also have him design the layout of the tubing on the floor, which is a task he’ll actually he’ll outsource to Wirsbo. Paul says he can have the boiler room installed some time in early July, which works great with our schedule.

Today I’m at home waiting for the dumpster to arrive. I’m sitting at the window making sure no cars come along and decide to park in front of our house (our van, “The Captain” is presently taking up a few spaces, guarding our curb…) The dumpster is a necessary piece of our plan to rip out our plaster walls on Saturday morning. We have a handful of friends coming over all hoping they can take a sledgehammer to our walls. In fact, the process will be less violent, and will involve pulling the plaster and lathe off the walls with wrecking bars. Then, into a chute out the window into trash bins which we’ll cart immediately to the dumpster. That’s the plan, at least.

So don’t forget to tune in and watch us this Saturday on the ProjectCam. We’re starting around 9AM PST.
