One of the many reasons...
One of the many reasons I like our blog (and others like it) is that it makes me feel so much less isolated as a DIY remodeler. None of my friends are remodeling their homes, and while they’re always interested in hearing my stories, they usually aren’t experiencing the same set of issues or rewards. I can count on one hand the number of people here in Seattle who I know that would have the faintest clue if I asked them what they thought of replacement vinyl jambliners.
House blogs reassure me that there ARE others out there doing the same thing that Trissa and I are. What we’re doing is a piecemeal remodel over a period of several years, with a realistic budget (mostly funded month-to-month). We’re not transforming an old house into a brand-new house, with a budget of millions, or in a timeframe of 12 months. (Like That Old House TV show…)
It seems small, but one of the fun things I do every day is check the server logs to see how people find Pigeon Point Project. A majority of the clicks come from HouseBlogs (thanks, Aaron & Jeannie), but a growing number are coming from Google and other search engines. It sure makes me smile when I see that someone visited the site because they searched for “replacement jamb liner” or “victorian twist doorbell”, if only because I was the one searching on those terms a few weeks ago. That we wrote about our findings and that might have helped someone else is simply awesome.
Thanks everyone!
(And, don’t forget to vote in the poll this week if you haven’t already!)

I agree. It’s great to know we’re not the only crazy house-obsessed people in the world. Fortunately, our little town is full of old house renovators, so we have real life people, too.

2 of my neighbours that we’re friends with, one next door and one behind are both renovating. It’s nice to have an online community too.

My family and friends aren’t usually too interested in the minutae of what we do at our house, they barely even read my blog- sigh! But because of all these blogs I know that others value the same things and that is a great comfort and entertaining reading as well.
