Pipes, doors and rotten beam...

Saturday Nick ran the cold water pipe to the laundry room so it is ready for the boiler installation. The soldering went pretty well- he says it’s messier than he’d like, but we don’t have any leaks and I think it looks great. I put the second and third coat on the exterior side and edges of the back door and put the first coat on the front door. The spar varnish is turning out nicely and I can’t wait until they are complete and framed into place. The sanding and varnishing can get a bit tedious, but it is also kind of calming. Yesterday Nick was going to frame in the back porch so it would be ready for the back door and radiant floor, but yet again we found a rotted out beam that the posts were all sitting on. He fixed that later & I’ll let him share the details and photos in another post. Today is cleaning day- put the tools all back in place and fire up the shop vacs one more time. What did they do before shop vacs- how did they deal with all the dust and mess? I bet they were much more patient than me…

Knowing Nick’s great details and high standards, I’m sure the soldering is head and shoulders above what I could have accomplished!
