Can do can make you crazy
One of our best qualities is our “can do” attitude. I had no problem figuring out the permit and ordering the dumpster. When Nick sent me the pictures this morning, I was pretty excited. After coming home and looking at the dumpster in front of our house I began to think we’re a little bit crazy. We have little details to take care of before Saturday’s demolition and I must admit, it’s starting to all sink in… Maybe the $240 city permit fee for having the dumpster is to scare away those that think they can do this on their own, or maybe that’s how we know we really are crazy! I’m looking forward to getting started on this and hope that by Saturday night I will be rejuvenated by the progress that we make. I sure wish we all lived close to each other so we could take turns helping each other out. The blogging community has definitely helped me stay inspired and grounded. It’s nice to know there are plenty of others out there who are just as crazy as us- if not more so!

Dumpsters give a project a brand of professionalism. I remember when I got mine last year. Just wanted to throw something in it and stand around and point at it. We don’t have a permit for a dumpster here, thank God. Your permit fee would actually get you a 30 yard dumpster and disposal here in Knoxville, TN.
Looking forward to reading more, God luck with your Craftsman house!

Good luck guys! I loved having the dumpster. So freeing to just throw things into a giant bin and forget about them!

Trissa- I know how you feel believe me. So many times I have felt like, “Maybe we’re really fools for doing this stuff ourselves.” I also wish we could help each other out- imagine what we could accomplish with all our collective knowledge and expertise!
It’s a big deal (to me anyway) demo-ing a room because there is no turning back after that point(not to alarm you- you know this anyway).
And I agree too it’s really affirming to have HouseBlogs to read. I’ve said it before- I love it!
I like to think by restoring older homes, we are leaving a legacy for others who value the same things we do. Carrying the torch so to speak. Not that it’s totally unselfish because we also want to live in our “dream homes” and enjoy them. Ok- I’ll go eat dinner now- it’s 7:15pm and I haven’t yet.
I’ll prob. check on your live web cam a few times tomorrow-sending you strength and more can do attitude!
